Parco Del Valentino

Italy is a country full of cultural and natural beauty, a country rich in history and places to visit and to recount. Not by chance is it the country that currently holds the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites (51). However, it's also a difficult country to understand, even for those, like me, who live here, due to its complex policies and its social division. But from the tourist and photography point of view, it has few equals in the world. I would like to say that Turin is not my home town, but the city that, in recent years, has "adopted me".

According to the New York Times, Turin is one of the best destinations to visit in 2016, and I'm not surprised about this. Because Turin is really beautiful, even if those who live here sometimes find it hard to admit... After the Winter Olympics in 2006, much has been done to encourage tourism and enhance this city, and the results are obvious. Then, from a photographic point of view, thanks to the Po river, parks, monuments, large squares, hills and its proximity to the Alps, it offers guests stylish and enchanting views. I'll talk again about Turin, but for now I want to focus on this photo that I took on a clear autumn day at Valentino Park, one of the most beautiful places in the city, and one of the most loved by the inhabitants of Turin. The park is at its best in fall, when it is cloaked in a thousand shades of color. Its origin dates back to the early Roman settlements and the eponymous castle was erected in 1630-1660. In the picture is the Medieval Village, built in 1884 for the Turin Expo, inspired by medieval castles of the Aosta Valley, in particular that of Fénis. Walking, running, or rollerblading, going by bicycle or rickshaw in this haven of peace is one of the favorite hobbies of the inhabitants of Turin, who enjoy the greenery and the silence here. So if you are coming from outside and you want to immerse yourself in the local customs or photograph some of the most beautiful views of the capital of Savoy, you should definitely go here.

L'Italia è un Paese pieno di bellezze culturali e paesaggistiche, un Paese ricco di storia e di luoghi da visitare e da raccontare. Non a caso è la nazione che attualmente detiene il maggior numero di siti inclusi nella lista del Patrimoni dell'Umanità dell'UNESCO (51). Tuttavia è anche un Paese difficile da comprendere, per via della sua complessità politica e della sua divisione sociale, persino per chi ci vive come me. Dal punto di vista turistico e fotografico però ha pochi uguali nel mondo. Per questo vorrei partire da quella che non è la mia città di origine, bensì la città che negli ultimi anni mi ha "adottata": Torino.

Secondo il New York Times Torino è una delle mete più belle da visitare nel 2016, e non mi stupisce. Perché Torino bella lo è davvero, anche se chi ci vive a volte fatica ad ammetterlo... Dopo le Olimpiadi Invernali del 2006 è stato fatto molto per incentivare il turismo e valorizzare questa città, e i risultati si vedono. Dal punto di vista fotografico poi, grazie al fiume Po, ai parchi, ai monumenti, alle grandi piazze, alla collina e alla sua vicinanza con le Alpi, regala scorci davvero eleganti e incantevoli. Vi parlerò ancora di Torino, ma per il momento voglio soffermarmi su questa foto che ho scattato in una limpida giornata d'autunno al Parco Del Valentino, uno dei luoghi più belli della città, nonché uno dei più amati dai torinesi. Il parco dà il suo meglio proprio di autunno, quando si ammanta di mille sfumature di colore. La sua origine risale ai primi insediamenti romani e il castello omonimo è stato eretto nel 1630-1660. Questo nella foto è il Borgo Medievale, costruito nel 1884 in occasione dell'Esposizione Generale Italiana su ispirazione dei castelli valdostani del Medioevo, in particolare quello di Fénis. Passeggiare, correre, andare in bici o sui risciò o sui pattini in questa oasi di pace è uno dei passatempi preferiti dei torinesi che qua si godono il verde e il silenzio. Per cui se venite da fuori e volete immergevi nelle abitudini locali o fotografare alcuni dei più belli scorci della capitale sabauda, dovete assolutamente recarvi qui.
